I had to write a poem for english class this week, so I decided to write it about what I did on Sunday. if you want a more thorough account, see Katie's xanga.
'Marathon Mavericks'
On a bright Sunday morning, the four of us set out,
for the Freescale Marathon, and lots of work, no doubt.
But when we had arrived, and approached the finish line,
They told us we weren't needed; it was all a waste of time.
"You don't need us? We don't need you!" we decided in an instant.
So now we thought of what to do and drove off into the distance.
We found ourselves on a winding road, leading us up a hill or mountain
On which resided beautiful homes - one even had its own fountain!
Then we drove on to Hut's for a bite - they serve the best burgers I've had,
And picked up the Austin Chronicle, to laugh at the personal ads.
After our lunch we retraced our route up the hill to the rich neighborhood.
We leapt from the car to pose by houses we thought looked good.
When we were finished with that fun, at a park we hiked a trail of gravel,
And rolled down a hill. What an end to our travels!
That's how Melissa, Katie, Dan, and Tom enjoyed the Freescale Marathon.
I apologize for the shoddy workmanship on this particular work, but I am definitely not an experienced poet. |
